The car is called the Black Pearl and I love it. A rusted out old Jag with a 6.0l V12 out of a slightly less old Jag coupled to a 5 speed manual with some much needed added lightness and bonnet ornament.

Sporty Jags should have growlers, not leapers. This is a hill I will die on, otherwise you end up with abominations like this:

I know this car! Marco Fleming (the owner) is some crazy dude from the UK. I have a few videos of this car on my exhausts playlist, it sounds like there are no mufflers whatsoever... A+

I’ve always loved the XJ-S and I’d love to do a manual swap. This is an actual bucket list item for me - I’m pretty sure thats the only way to find yourself at the wheel of an old school manual V12 GT car for under 10k. And these will NOT be as cheap as they are right now for very long!! Guaranteed

I agree but the XJS has always been the exception for me.

I’ll give you that the styling allows for it better than other Jag coupes (or even the new XJ), but I’m still against it on principle, especially since that tradition allows for awesome things like leaving the hood ornament off of an XJR as a way to communicate that it is a batshit crazy go go mobile.

You know what sucks about work? Knowing a car is awesome, and sounds awesome, and being unable to watch a video of it. Sigh.

I’ve always thought it as a discount V12 Vantage.

You and me both.

Actually, because I have to deal with real-world things like petrol and finances my plan is to get an early XJS shell (so I don’t need to worry about emissions), swap in a 4.0l AJ6 and a 5-speed, sort the suspension, , do a ton of lightweighting, fabricate a 6-3-1 manifold, port the head, balance the crank and install a set of ITBs.

Then I'd go worry E46 M3 owners :)
